Police Service of Northern Ireland

The Police Service of Northern Ireland’s (PSNI) estate consists of over 180 operational sites throughout the province, most of which are operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The contract arose from the difficulties that the Police Service faced after years of under-investment in much of this estate. It has, by any measure, been a major success story.

The PSNI contract provides Full Property Management Services including building maintenance, energy and utilities management and refurbishment project management and delivery to over 180 PSNI stations. Over the last seven years Amey’s solutions have done much to solve the underfunding problems PSNI faced. We have recently won a further seven-year contract.

One of the many aims of the new contract is to transform the forbidding face of the PSNI buildings into environments better suited to the needs of their 21st century police force and the transformed political climate.

Amey’s dedicated management team and 50-strong staff manage a budget of £25 million for the property and facilities over all locations. As part of our contract we also deliver health and safety monitoring, security provision, cleaning and grounds maintenance.

It is a testament to the contract to date that we have 47 key performance indicators to keep in line with and in three years we have received no KPI fee abatement.

The customer has been particularly pleased by the way that the Amey team have risen to the challenge of undertaking this work. It is a relationship based on trust and true partnership in rapidly changing times.
